I'm proud of my program because it played well and won in front of about 150 people. It is nerve-wracking to do these because there is the fear that the program will do something ugly and lose in embarassing fashion. I would feel confident playing a longer blitz match against anyone, because I know that in at least some of the games it will demonstrate strength, but in a pair of 30 0's there is the chance that it will look stupid in both games, and people will extrapolate from this, they'll think that my program always plays like this, and they'll think it forever. I'm still often reminded of the 0-2 match against Shirov a couple of years ago. I take some of the worry out of it by removing all question about whether I should accept any particular offer, I simply accept every match of this type that I am offered, and simply tell the thing to play 1. e4 and hope for the best. bruce
