That is nothing.

About a year ago I saw a really nice set of Altec Lansing speakers on Ebay for
quite cheap with no reserve.

The seller's location was actually here in Edmonton so I dropped him an email
stating I would like to buy them and hopefully he would close the auction early.

He was willing to do it as long as I was willing to pay a $50 pick up fee.

While pick up fees are nothing new, I thought he simply made a typo and meant $5
so I agreed (shipping was $50 US on the auction, which is reasonable for the box
size and weight). When I went to pick them up it was in fact a $50 pick up fee.
When I asked why so much he said "Well I did have to get off the sofa and
answer the door right?"

I simply laughed and said he could shove the speakers up his arse, and use the
$50 pick up fee to clean himself with afterwards.. :)

Ebay is getting insane for shipping fees/pick up fees.

Just look for headphones. You can get them for $0.99 but the shipping is up to
$40 US :) And they are crappy ones at that..
