I started the rotated bitboard engine in November. I had my first running
version January 2, 1999. I have added null move, all my pruning, and pawn
hashing in the last 3 weeks (I have a lot of time on my hands, at least I think
I do; I'm afraid my grades will suffer). The only big thing I haven't added are
transposition tables. I'm hoping they give a big elo jump. How much did they
help your program?

Yes; I read Ernst Heinz's articles and hope to add even deeper pruning soon.

I only use a few extensions.

I do have book learning, but it is not that advanced. Harder was trying to get
the stupid program to read and compile the book.

King safety stinks. :( I can't seem to make my program castle. Most of the time
is goes off on queen foraging expeditions and leaves it's king high and dry. How
do you make your program castle?
