I suppose I could have clipped the above, but to maintain continuity:
I just heard from Chessbase: Steffen. The old 16 bit engines such as Fritz
4.01, Fritz 3, Doctor 2, etc, will not run under WinXp.

Win98, (and for that matter WinMe) while a 32bit OS, will support 16 bit
programs, therefore they would run under that OS. As far as Fritz 5.32 - the 332
indicates it being a 32 bit program, and is the same engine as Fritz 5 except it
being upgraded to a 32 bit program. It would be nice if CB would write a patch
to upgrade these old engines to 32 bit capability, but that would be asking a
bit much, I think.

So...I guess I can stop trying to figure out how to get them to run...

Regards,

David
