Ubi Soft is a French company, and they bought the rights to Chessmaster when CM9000 was early in development; they had absolutely no "loyalty" to us. A few months after CM9000 was released, they switched CM development to a long-standing team they had in Romania. And the financial aspect of it is pretty obvious. They could either pay for 5 US developers or 15 Romanian developers for the same cost. What would you do? And I suspect that those Romanian guys probably needed the money more than I did, so I have no hard feelings at all. Of course, I miss working on Chessmaster very much, but life goes on. jm
