Even if you clearly state that you are taking your "moderator hat off", the image of a moderator remains. Particularly so, if your personal message is combined in the same e-mail with an offical moderator message. It is an additional burden for the moderators to bear, but I think they have to be aware of their position when sending personal communications to group members.
