Go up one level in this thread

Dear Steve,

Hi, I just got the game in the mail a couple of days ago. I've been playing the
Excalibur Grandmaster against the Novag Sapphire I at 30 minute blitz. As
expected, the Sapphire I wins most of the time, but the EXGM seems to win one in
every few games.

If the Novag Sapphire I had a USCF Rating of 2383, then the EXGM must be at
least 2000, since it can win one out of every few games. I can not play more
than three or four games in a row without the EXGM being able to win or draw a
game. This would be about right, for someone who wants a game at the USCF Expert
Level.

From the list you recommended which gives the Excalibur Grandmaster a 1919 ELO
Rating (blitz 30 min), and from the results I got when playing the EXGM against
the Sapphire I (blitz 30 min), I would estimate that the Excalibur Grandmaster
has a USCF Rating of about 2050 (30 minute blitz).

I'll keep testing the game, but so far it seems to play at about the right
level.

I love the pieces and the board. Both are well made, and I enjoy being able to
play games without straining my eyes. Later on I'll trying playing the game more
on my own instead of using the Novag Sapphire I.

It is taking a little while to get used to an autosensory board, but the game
seems to be worth the cost. I look forward to playing many games against the
Excalibur Grandmaster (especially 30 min. blitz). The game seems to be good
enough so that I can learn a lot from it.

I'll let you know how I'm doing with the game, after I get more practice out of
it.

Thanks for suggesting this game. It will be a lot of fun for me to play against
it.

Victor
