Why?? I work for a company that makes displays that might work quite well for a chess computer. I see that there is a lot of activity on this site, so please allow me to pick your brains. I'm not much of a chess player, but when I look at what is available in the tabletop and handheld games - it seems like something is missing. The PDA-style games seem way too small, straining the eyes. Portability is there but how long can you look at that kind of screen?? The tabletop games look much easier to play, but portability seems difficult because of all the pieces. What I am looking at doing is combining the two styles. Think of it as a larger PDA style, or a tabletop without using pieces. The playing surface would display the pieces (probably about 1" x 1" each) in black and white. It would be much easier to see than the PDA-style, yet still somewhat portable. Play could happen in a moving vehicle. I suppose pieces could be included also, making their use optional. Am I off in left field here?? Are my assumptions correct about the shortcomings of available systems?? Would anyone be interested in a larger version with a display?? Thanks, Ray
