Mindscape was sold by Pearson PLC (the company that you mention above) a little less than a year ago to The Learning Company, a major software publishing company that has made a habit over the years of buying OTHER software publishers (Broderbund, to name just one). Amazingly enough, even THAT'S old news because The Learning Company is almost about to finalize the deal in which they are being purchased by Mattel! (I have heard jokes about "Barbie Chess" and "Tickle Me Chessmaster" and that deal is supposed to go through within 6 weeks. So, do you now feel even FURTHER removed from Chessmaster/Mindscape? Well, don't worry, because who owns Mindscape probably won't make any difference as to what goes under the hood of Chessmaster. jm
