Shredder 9 for example was also new when tested and overcome the same things you mention. As for the quantity from past experience it will be within the error margin + - and as we know playing even 1200 games would still leave probably + - 20 rating points. The book naturally could cause a large difference in rating. I will at some point re-test Fruit 2.1 using Dann's big book. Sarah.
