Subject: converting16 bit to 32 bit difficulty?

Recently I posted a msg concerning Fritz 3.16 and Fritz 4.01 not running under
WinXP. Included should have been Jr 4.6 which also seems to have been vaporized
by the upgrade.

When Fritz 5 was first released it was a 16 bit engine (Fritz 5.16), and later
re-released as Fritz 5.32 which essentially was not a lot more than converting
it to 32 bit capability. I'm not a programmer. Would this have been a difficult
task, and if not would it be asking too much for Chessbase to convert these old
engines (F3, Doc 2, F4, Jr 4.6) to 32 bit capability so those of us who would
like to have them run under WinXP would be able to do so?

I would ask them first, but since they may not be able to get around to it any
time soon, someone here may be able to indicate the level of difficulty. For
instance, if it were a difficult job requiring a couple of months worth of work,
then I would not even ask, since there may only be a couple of people besides me
who would like to have those old engines available.
