you are describing the problem very well. And it underlines the responsibility
of SMK. As a very intelligent and successfull chess programmer he should know
about the consequences of introducing such an incompatible approach to Chess960.

There is a world outside of Shredder, being Chess960 aware long before SMK has
made his decision to enter the scene. First when I heard from that new Chess960
aware program Shredder I was very exited and welcomed that development by a lot
of postings.

But seeing that uncoordinated and unnecessary new "FEN" for FRC has made me
doubt, whether SMK will support that scene or try to paralyse it.
