I think that it is better if SMK decide to add X-FEN support to shredder so users will be able to choose between compatible notation to chess and notation that is not compatible. It is also better if engines that use different notation will also be able to play under shredder interface in this case because in case of castling or in case of giving fen shredder may get the notation of one engine and translate it to the notation of the second engine and send the information to the second engine. I see no reason not to support more options and if shredder is not able to read pgn that are published with the old notation or is not able to give pgn in the old notation then it is a disadvantage of shredder.
