I entered the 3/4 final of the championship of Israel and not the 3/4 final of
the championship of the world so it is not a very big achievement.
sorry for not explaining which 3/4 final I am going to play and making the
impression of bigger achievement.

Would appreciate your views on 2 subjects.

It is legal to use computers also in the semi final of championship of Israel
I estimate that 4 out of 6 opponents of my semi final were using computer.
I know from talking with opponents that at least 2 out of 6 were using computers
but one of them did not use a good program(he told me after the game(he lost by
a tactical mistake that most programs needs some hours to avoid against me when
all the moves were of Junior4.6) that he used Chessmaster3000 on pentium66 and
asked me for advice about which chess program to use.

another opponent(I drew against him) was using Fritz5 and Junior4.6(5) almost
the same program as mine(I used also Genius3 in the opening)

I think that my opponents did not use the program to analyze moves for hours
like I used.

I can say that 2 games were wins only of the computer(5 hours per move on
pentium 200MMX of Junior4.6 or Junior5)

one of the opponents(the weakest player) decided to leave the tournament so a
computer could have at least 3 out of 3.
I got 5 out of 6.

I did not use only the computer but I did not choose the right opening for
computers and was afraid to use the computer when I saw that it does not
understand what to do.

I am not going to repeat this mistake in the 3/4 final

> Also, how do you use the chess program to assist your analysis, e.g., how do
you deal with the horizon problem?

When I see that the evaluation of the program go down slowly after a long time
then I can suspect that it is a problem of the horizon effect so I follow the
main line of the program and see the evaluation after the main line.

This happened in one of the games and I saw that after the main line my position
is bad.
I did not find good alternatives so I decided to give my computer a very long
time to analyze the position 2 plies in the main line.
After 50 hours of analysis Junior4.6 found a surprising alternative.
I analyzed it and found that it is a good move so I played the first move of the
main line.
I did not have to play the surprising move because my opponent did not follow
the main line that I was afariad against.

There werw 2 positions in my game against the other player who use Jujnior and
Fritz when I decided to reject the move of the computer because it did not see
the results of something.

I found by generating a tree that I could have better evaluation by not playing
the move suggested by the computer.

I got a pawn adavantage against him by the evaluation of the program but it did
not help because the position was drawn.

I think that I could have the same final result by playing only in the computer
in this game.
