Okay Roy, 100 elo would still be acceptable :) Maybe Ed can make up the
difference, with a Deep Deo version, for new dual core processors?

I believe Dom Leste would like to see a new Tal personality, as he claims the
old one is only 2000 elo or so. It should be possible to improve on that with
Pro Deo 1.1!

Addendum to yesterdays Vulcan {9k10j} settings:

After very rigorous testing :) I have again a new version only slightly
different from Vulcan {9k10j} settings to share, in my quest for Gambit Pro Deo,
for all the tweaking enthusiasts! (Extensive testing with me can sometimes
consist of just one testposition when that is not solved the way I like it...)

When I tried Vulcan {9k10j} in testposition number two of my extensive
testprogram, ahem, anyway important position Ferret- Gandalf of Maastricht 2001,
I did not solve the position very quickly, meaning it did not play Nf5 or e5
quickly.

But now I thought, if I do something completely counterintuitive and instead of
blaming this on the passed pawn tables of Vulcan {9k10j},
[Pruning = MISC_58]		* Recalculate passed pawns
[M58_Table = midg]		* normal|strong|midg|endg
I drastically go in the opposite direction and I remove the two extensions that
are supposed to be there in Vulcan for solving tactical positions?

So I switched off
[Pruning = MISC_30] 		* extend singular checks
[Pruning = MISC_36] * Extend double attacks (W6) at the leafs
and voila, behold, now Pro Deo "solved" the position again in one of the fastest
times I've seen!

Is that not strange? Of course Pro Deo in its default settings already has Hash
table pruning [Pruning = MISC_37] which is a fairly expensive extension (18% of
CPU time) So maybe any new extensions are not adding much to that, even if they
are not very expensive in CPU time. I just want to say; "The truth is still out
there" and you sometimes need some luck to find the working combination of Ed's
many Pro Deo parameters.
