The S was needed in the EARLY times of boards.

LATER the changes were made in ALL boards.
this leads to the situation that the modules could also sometimes run in boards
that have NO S, and they do not run in OLDER boards.

The S was indicator: we have changed this board so that it also runs with the
16-bit modules.
later this was a redundant indicator, so it was not used anymore.
