The hardware could have being tempered with, or the settings of Hiarcs 7 could also being modified to play so badly. I remember reading a previous posting of a Hiarcs 7 user who said the program was playing like a drunk running under windows 98 although he had 64 MB of Ram. So it makes me wonder if the tester were running the program under Windows and not in DOS, although I also suspect that exiting Windows and going to DOS also affects the program performance because there are a lot of TSR or memory management running under the background in DOS through Windows. The best way to prevent this is to have a clean boot up in DOS through a start-up disk. A Windows-DOS start-up disk can be created and it is much better than using the F5/F8 break to stop Windows 98 from booting. A DOS start up disk will not work because Windows 98 uses a different DOS from DOS 5 and DOS 6. You need to create a Windows 98-DOS start up disk by formatting a blank disk under Windows 98, then go to the MS-DOS windows and execute the command 'sys.com'. This will ensure that the floppy becomes bootable.
