Because it was possible to later exchange the power-supply stuff as a service. it can be that the boards are from 1980 but were upgraded. i would be very carefully with wooden exclusive boards that have the batterie storage and with older modular having the board printed on the plastic and the smaller pieces. if nobody upgraded the power supply , it can cause damage to the power supply in the plastic-boards. be happy if this has not happened with your boards.
