I am using Fritz chessbase. I downloaded Zappa 1.0 and extracted the contents into an engine folderi made for it under chessbase engines. I then entered it into my list of chessbase engines. Everything worked fine. Then i downloaded the book for the program, and since it is not a ctg. book, i also extracted the contents of it into the engines folder. The same way i have done with many other freeware programs that i have. When i go to chessbase and pick Zappa to play, i have to list some opening book for it to use, or it will use the one from the previous engine i had loaded. So i have made and just use an empty folder called "own book .ctg" I enter it as the opening book for Zappa to use. Its really nothing, for Zappa is using its own opening book located in the engines folder. I use the same procedure with Aristarch, Pharaon, Pro Deo, Ruffian, SOS Arena, Spike. Works fine for all of them. But Zappa for some reason will not play from the opening book like the rest mentioned above will. I play pK4 to start, and Zappa will think for 2 minutes before moving. For some reason it is not recognizing and/or using the book in the engines folder. I told Graham about this, so he sent me his zappa files to download, and i used his instead and the same thing happens. I cant get Zappa to use an opening book. Graham says it beats him, because it works for him under chessbase, and i am installing everything correctly. Anyone out there with any ideas? This one has me stumped!! Thanks, George
