Most serious collector's maintain a listing of their dedicated chess computer collections. this information will generally contain information about the make and model and if the computer has the original box, pieces and manualand a word or two about condition some collector's have published their collections on the net and some maintain web sites featuring their collections however one bit of information you will RARELY see is the defective computers a collector has..and believe you me..ALL collectors have at least some computers that are defective in some way or another of course a defective computer does not have to be TOTALLY inoperable and can have only minor issues ,such as.. no sound ..or the CMOS memory will not longer retain the users options when turned off on the other hand, collectors have computers that are totally not working. this information is guarded more closely then the King's Jewels a nice example of this is ..their is one top collector that lists well over 500 computers in his collection and there is not one that has even a slight defect :)) he shows the infamous Novag Savant in his listing and again not a word about the common defect of the display screen,,it is well known that there are NO perfectly working Savants in existence today why Collector's guard this piece of information with their very lives is obvious i guess, however i am happy to report that i do not partake in this folly and always maintain a complete and accurate listing of all defects whenever i am asked about my defective computers i am always able to answer directly and to the point in a loud clear voice.. WHY NONE OF COURSE! :)) Defective Regards Steve
