Ken Thompson's two papers in the ICCA Journal give algorithms for generating DTC EGTs. In the second paper, Ken mentions a technique that he thought would speed things up - but which didn't. Papers by Wu and Beal describe an algorithm which gets the same efficiency whether creating DTC or DTM EGTs. These are in ICGA_J and elsewhere. A useful tip is to generate EGTs to the DTZ metric rather than the DTC metric. This allows one to get the same 'DTC/DTM' efficiency if endgames are done by fixed-pawn slices ... and DTZ is a more useful metric otb. g
