I have not done something evil, for which I would have to excuse me then. Instead I had made big efforts to have a compatibly extended FEN for Chess960 established - where my proposal was X-FEN. Because of that goal I had an early contact to SMK, which unfortunately has not been able to convince him to use a more compatible FEN extension. Now you see Spike using X-FEN, the WNCA using a cropped FEN and SMK still use his SMK-FEN. It was not at all helpfull, that the rules of the Chess960 CCM 2005 concerning the to be used PGN / FEN format have been changed without any need. That struggling for a unique FEN for Chess960 has cost me a lot of time and energy without having finally payed. But I still have hope for an extended FEN, which would not enable different encodings for identical positions and which also would avoid to redefine already established representations of 960 FRC starting positions. You know that there already are Chess960 aware online servers, game data bases, PGN viewers, tools, GUIs and engines. >After all Shredder-FRC was not the program to be afraid of. SMIRF is not (yet) able to beat Shredder, but this was not at all the point. Reinhard.
