The Baron is normally using recapture extensions, and older Baron versions may have less problems to avoid the piece sac. However, during the match with Svidler I accidentally deactivated recapture extensions almost totally, so it needed to search to depth 13 to see Nxf5 was not a good idea. Other programs, that do recapture extensions almost unrestricted (crafty and Yace for example) see it at ply 10. After fixing this bug, the Baron needed only 11 ply to find it and I believe that would have been sufficient to avoid this error. Richard.
