Hi Brian, not sure about other programs, but spike searches different depending on the ordering of the piece list. When getting a symmetric FEN the piece ordering is typically different because the fen has ordered the pieces from top to bottom in both cases. For beeing really symmetric the symmetric fen must be scanned from bottom to top. Thus eval is symmetical, but not search at least for Spike. For testing Spike has a special "SetSymetricFen" method (in a debug compile only) that solves the piece ordering problem. Greeting Volker
