Hi, an Opteron running at the same clock speed as an athlon 64 should be about 10% faster because of his larger cache. Usually an athlon 64 has 512KB and an opteron has 1024KB Cache. There are some Athlon 64 Models with 1024KB that should behave like single cpu opterons. In my tests an Athlon 64 running at 2 GHZ is about as fast as a Pentium 4 running and 4 GHZ. Perhaps Bob has compared the speed of a 4 CPU Opteron System against a 4 CPU Xeon System. Here he might get a double-as-fast because Opterons have better multi-processor architectures. Greetings Volker
