As a general rule, I'd take the AMD every time. For example AMD 2.2ghz is more than 2x faster than Intel xeon 2.8ghz. I'm not sure what the "3500" type numbers actually translate to with AMD. BTW I have seen dual core laptops advertised. I like the 12.4" displays with a weight under 4 pounds, and they generally lag behind the 10 pound "laptop" machines with 17" widescreens and the like. I refuse to carry something that big/heavy, so I suspect it will be a while before I see a dual-core in a system I would consider buying.
