Shredder - Fruit, WCCC 13th Reykjavik 2005

 [D] 6k1/5p2/2b1p1pp/4P3/1q6/8/1P3QPP/5BK1 w - - 0 1

After Fruit captures the pawn with 39…Qxb4, both sides are even on material
In this position Fruit score is at -.55 for white.
Shredder score is -.11
Many games have been lost by either side with a similar score.
I was following this game using different programs to see if one would have
different score than other. Most were about the same during the game.
Lots of speculation during game who had advantage and at what move black
actually had a win.
If a GM looks at this position at move 40 and says it is a win for black if no
blunders, than the programs do not reflect this confidence.
Evals, how they work and what they mean, and the fact that a program can have a
winning position and is going to win, but the eval will not show this----is very
fascinating to me.

There is no capture of material until move 61…Qxe5.
So Fruit could not gain material between move 40 and move 60.

In this position Fruit captures another pawn with 61…Qxe5
Fruit advances pawns and it is all over.
