Both observations are correct.  If you type the word "ask" in the Shredder GUI,
a special mode for manual operation in tournaments is started.  When this
mode is activated, the area around the board lights up in an ugly red colour
when the computer makes a move, and the program asks the operator to
correct the program's clocks if necessary.

The pondermove is always displayed on the screen, and can be entered
quickly simply by clicking on it.
