I think that the version you can download right now is SMP.

I am guessing that is not it.  The professional programs have more efforts put
into their books than any amateur engine could ever muster.

Very, very few people test with multiple CPUs dedicated to a single program,
that's for sure.

Zappa is very strong running single threaded.
I am guessing Mr. Cozzie has done a very good job with his SMP algorithm.
A strong SMP algorithm will pay a penalty on blitz for sure.
And most people do test at faster time controls.  For some reason (also) Zappa
seems to get left out a lot from home-brew contests.

I think for crafty (now that if forks instead of using threads) the penalty will
be even higher for blitz games.

It certainly seems a spectacular result for Zappa so far.  And the one draw is
clearly the most stunning result of the tournament (currently) because of all
the other wins.
