Your suggestion makes it appear that it's against Shredder only. Don't let the professionals play against each other. Kurt just did that. Make it strictly amateurs against the professionals This way a match wouldn't be strictly against Shredder. Eight to ten programs, split equally with professional and the great amateur programs we are now seeing. I may be wrong but the new Toga, Zappa and Fruit versions certainly are causing serious problems with Shredder, Junior, Fritz and a few of the other professional programs. I don't think the outcome of a tournament like this would be nearly as lopsided at Kurt's last one was deciding the winner. A 90+30 or 120+15, etc., ~50-60 games each should give everyone a fair idea of how these programs perform at long time controls. I would wait until hell freezes over to see these results! Something like: Fruit Toga Zappa Spike Glaurung Shredder Junior Fritz Gandalf Chess Tiger Hiarcs These are just suggestions. It would be up to Kurt. All are very worthy opponents.
