Over the past couple of days I played a series of games between Toga II (v 1.0) and other tope engines. Each game was 15 min plus 1 sec per move (to avoid a loss on time). The hardware was a 2.66 GHz P4 with Ponder off. Here are the results: Toga II 1.0 - Fruit 2.1 12.0 - 11.0 52.17% Toga II 1.0 - Gandalf 6.0 12.0 - 11.0 52.17% Toga II 1.0 - Glaurung Mainz 14.5 - 8.5 63.04% Toga II 1.0 - Ktulu 7.0a 16.5 - 6.5 71.74% Toga II 1.0 - Shredder 7.04 11.0 - 12.0 47.83% Toga II 1.0 - Shredder 8 10.0 - 13.0 43.48% Toga II 1.0 - Shredder 9 UCI 10.5 - 12.5 45.65% Toga II 1.0 - Spike 1.0 Mainz 8.5 - 14.5 36.96% Toga II 1.0 - Zappa 1.0 15.5 - 7.5 67.39% 110.5 - 96.5 53.38% 207 out of 207 games played Level: 15 Minutes/Game + 1 Seconds/Move I conclude that Toga is clearly strong but from this data it doesn't look significantly stonger than Fruit 2.1 (taking all the results into account). I would also highlight the good results verses Ktulu 7a yet poor results against Spike 1.0 Mainz (which is also clearly strong!).
