Quite simple!
On the average, for chess, Athlon 1200 MHz = P4 1800 MHz (1.5 x 1200)
Which means Athlon 1200 MHz = 60% of P4 3.06 GHz

For an Athlon 64, you would have to multiply by 1.5, +25%
(Athlon 64 2.4 GHz = P4 4.5 GHz !!!)
