How I define >humanlike is the ability to play speculatively. What are the main strengths of >fruit? weaknesses? I checked about 100 blitz games between Fruit 2.1 and Fritz 8.1.2. I would think that Fritz plays better sicilians with opposite castling (in general it seems to me that Fritz is a better attacker), but Fruit plays better when the pawn structure is (relatively at least) static and/or the position is not (too) unbalanced. Fruit looks to me more like a "positional" player. I also noticed in some games that Fritz underestimates the value of unconnected passed pawns (relative to Fruit). Fruit's King will then "escort" the pawn to the promotion square (the "forbidden fruit"!). Cheers,
