They do not know what they are talking about.

I do not plan to buy Junior or Shredder or Fritz in case that fruit becomes
stronger than them.

I am not the only person with these thoughts.
I do not say that professional are going to lose most of their customers because
of fruit but they certainly can lose customers unless  they can be sure that
their program will be stronger than fruit so certainly the possibility of free
fruit is a threat for them(they cannot be sure that they will be able to
generate something better than future free fruit).

Even in case that fruit does not become better than shredder,
there is still a risk that new programmers will learn from fruit2.1 and generate
something better than stefan.

I think that Fruit may help stefan to improve Shredder but at the same time it
reduces his chances to keep the first place in the ssdf even if you never
release new fruit.
