Most collectors will not normally sell computers from their collections however this needs a bit of explanation many Collectors have accumulated a "Doubles" collection of chess computers in varying stages of decay over many years of collecting one will come across a computer already in the collection, but perhaps it is in better condition then the one already owned,or perhaps the collector is missing the original box or manual and so must purchase the entire computer to get the missing item to complete the set after some years ,a large collection of doubles will be stockpiled , made up of a rag tag assortment of computers(working or defective),manuals, odd piece sets,adaptors..etc etc most will sell these doubles if offered a fair price however there are other reasons for selling that are not so pleasant i will list the major reasons below with a brief explanation MARRIAGE--probably the most common reason sadly many a fine collector happily surrounded by computers of every make and model makes the fatal decision .. to take a bride it is not long before the bride who before the marriage hardly even noticed the computers,or even thought them "cute" suddenly turns into a behemoth demanding that the "silly chess games "be removed from the happy household DIVORCE--the second most common reason many a collector must leave the home after a divorce and cannot possibly store all of the computers in his collection.. ergo they are sold DEATH--perhaps the most hideous of all reasons if a collector can somehow manage to cling onto his collection throughout all his years of "marital bliss" the time will come where he will die. needless to say the spouse then holds a garage sale on the front lawn selling $2500 computers to passers by, for $25 the ruthless collector can of course utilize these situations to compliment his collection by keeping a close business relationship with Justices of the Peace,Divorce attorneys and Undertakers i myself of course would never partake of this "mucking around in the misery of others" to further my collection now if you would please excuse me,i must read todays Obituary column in the Papers Regards Steve
