Hi Steve,

if you want to spend next 20 years programming the chess application,
its right time to start here. My advice is not to do that. You will not be
able to get any from computer chess for sure. (Who will buy Shredder or
Junior or Fritz now, when one can download World Champion Zappa, or
World No. 2 Fruit free ?).

You must know that the computer chess infection is for life and the goal
(the perfect program with maximum possible strength) could never be achieved.

Also the theory and practice in that area is huge, except C you must know many,
many
other things. And must know how to transfer the theoretical principles and
algorithms
into the efficient engine.

But it’s very nice that you are interested in computer chess. If you have enough
time and
affinity I could only wish you good luck.

best regards,

Vladan Vuckovic

Axon Benchmark v4.0 programmer (see www.playwitharena.com ).

(I have somewhere the Delphi application and source for the tic-tac-toe, I have
written it many years ago. I will try to find in my archives, and send you, if
you want).
