I'll answer a slightly different question because:
a) not all the 6-man (Nalimov) DTM EGTs are generally available yet, and
b) it's impossible to say how often the EGTs are accessed
- especially in the search-tree rather than just as root positions
So I'll quote some stats sent to me early 2004, and from Scid v3.1 beta3.
These are the top counts of occurences of positions from a 2001 db of 510,903
games:
KRPPKR 4572
KRPKRP 4553
KPPKPP 2333 ... all Rs and Ps so far
KBPKPP 1079
KRPKPP 1055
KNPKPP 935
KRPKBP 882
KBPKNP 877
KPPPKP 645
KBPPKB 590
KRPKNP 576
KNPPKN 532
KQPKPP 530 ... first appearance of a Q
KQPKQP 509
KNPPKB 506
KRBKRP 441
KNPKNP 440
KBPPKN 417
KQPPKQ 412 ... so Ps included all the way to here and well beyond
If anyone can give more comprehensive stats from a more recent database of
games, that would be interesting.
A theory, unsubstantiated, is that computer-computer games progress longer as
the computers don't know when to give up and can progress a small advantage
better. A C-C db should therefore show higher %-stats than the above.
