Subject: Engine tournaments and own book

I am setting up my own chess tournament with many of the free engines available
and some commercial ones too. I have a couple of questions that perhaps more
experienced "tournament masters" can give some advice on.

1)Most of the engine tournaments that are available seem to use the opening
books that come with the engine. I was wondering; if I use a single book, like
the Arena mainbook (my tournament is being played using Arena GUI), would this
be fair on all engines?
2)I am aware that MAD can only use its own book......are there any others that
cannot use the Arena mainbook?
3)A few engines (no names mentioned, because it could be my inexperience in
setting them up in the GUI) seem to quite often make illegal moves..could I find
somewhere a list of general problems encountered with engines?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Dario
