Tstantsa,

The Excalibur unit that you own is quite weak but then so are you. On the other
hand, playing this mediocre unit at level 13(about 25 sec/mov) will allow you to
experiment with unsound sacrifices and daring play in a timely fashion. As you
know, there is a take back button that allows you to replay and experiment with
variations.

Our Godfather, Fernando Villegas, is always complaining that he loses to today's
handheld and PC chess programs. I have told him to obtain your Excalibur machine
so that he could again taste sweet victory.

If you want to lose then get Shredder 9 and play it on an AMD 64 machine running
at 3800 MHz with 2 GB of RAM.

PS I enjoy the Petrov defense against the little Excalibur unit. It usually
falls for the unsound pawn capture and horribly misplays, going down a knight in
the opening. You can program it to avoid this faux pas but then the fun of chess
is experimenting with a position and winning by a variety of clever play.

PS2 The Excalibur LCD Chess and Checkers has one redeeming feature. The three
AAA alkaline batteries last for hundreds of games. Keep the unit.
