Human Style or Lazy? This position occurred during a game in Margate in 2000. [D] 8/1p6/p1bk4/2R2Pp1/4p1P1/P3K3/1P5P/8 w - - 0 46 White, a stronger player than I, went with Kd4 and of course black resigned but only on move 57. I was watching and thought Rxc6 might produce instant resignation! The next day I put this to my electronic friends, RISC 1mb and Rebel 7 agreed in a few seconds whilst HIARCS 7.32, R30 (1995) and others liked Kd4. Clearly RxB snuffs out any chance of black sticking a "cheapo" on him. Was I thinking like a human or just being lazy? I'm not a programmer but would be interested in the programmers' point of view. What would you WANT your program to play here? Thanks. Ray. ps. If you think you've seen this before Eric Hallsworth published my letter in Selective Search No. 89.
