I have loosely followed this topic for what should be two years now, getting more and more amused. *Any* system administrator I can imagine should have lost his job by now. Can things be done *any* worse ?? (e.g. the system breakdown without any reasonable backup as a starter) Yearly uptime for this system/service should be clearly below 50% by now, permanent loss of data is obviously common. Is this some spare time activity and otherwise data is safe and systems are up and running, or is this business as usual at UAB ? I am confident that whoever is the boss of this department, doesn't read here, so it should be safe to ask. It is not even off-topic, as it is soo regular a topic at this board ;) Peter
