It is not really true, as far as I know it works.

But I must admit that the user interface is not really very user friendly :
CEBoard's first goal was not chess playing but PGN editing.

If the engine is correctly installed, you will have a "processor" icon at the
third place to the right of the menu ONCE YOU HAVE CREATED A NEW GAME OR SETUP A
NEW POSITION (that's where the user interface is not very friendly).
The following screenshot displays this icon :

If you click on the icon, you will have a popup menu allowing you to start a
engine.
If you don't have this icon, it means that no engine is installed.
