Subject: To Anthony Cozzie and Vincent Diepeveen regarding Zappa/Diep UCI

Hi Anthony and Vincent,

What you have to lose if you release your engines as UCI? You won't lose sales,
that's for sure. If Zappa/Diep would be UCI not only you'll win sales, but many
people can post results about Zappa and Diep fighting hard against other strong
engines like Toga, Fruit, Spike and Shredder.

I know that your new GUI will be supporting UCI protocol, but there is nothing
like running engines in external GUIs. Like running them on Arena, Chesspartner
(to match it against Tiger 2004), Chessbase (To match it against Fritz, junior,
Hiarcs).

Zappa WB2 would be very interesting, but if you are going to release it, please
release it :-). But Zappa UCI/WB will have an advantage too, it will participate
on UCI only tournaments like the excellent Alex Schmidt and the french UCI
leagues. It will also be an advantage for the people no to use the adapter to
use it on the Chessbase GUI, many people will want it to play on the PlayChess
server, match them against Fritz, etc, take them as analysis tools and play them
with their favorite created CTG book.

Please tell me what you have to lose.

Good luck,

Juan Pablo Naar
