First of all make sure you have the Deep Fritz engine. I think the normal Fritz 8 engine will not support multiple processors. As for BIOS update of motherboard, I really don't think that is the problem. Athlon X2 has been out quite a while so your mobo should already have a usable BIOS. Ofcourse it is always best to have the latest BIOS. Most new motherboards now have Windows BIOS updates which allow you to upgrade your BIOS via Windows. But doing it the "old way" via DOS start up disk is also quite easy. Try one of the freeware multi processor capable engines (I think Crafty has one) and see how that goes.
