I didn't see GCP state any primitive insults. In fact he has a very plausible
arguement.

People purchase chess programs with no UCI support all the time, hense Fritz,
Junior, Hiarcs, Chess Tiger, and even the CB version of Shredder. That is a
consumer choice, and it is also a consumer choice that if Zappa is not released
with UCI support that some will not purchase it.

This is what GCP simply forgot and attacked the users here and not the ideas
they were presenting. That is the only problem I had with his post, and saw it
as insightful.

For GCP to put so many protocals into his own program, surely for commercial
benefit, and then to slander those who only want the same from Zappa was two
handed. It not only gave people reason to attack him, but to also wonder what
format his own program will be released in.

If anything the multiple threads that have been created since provoke thought
about the decisions we make as consumers. If we are willing to purchase one
engine without UCI support, then why not others? What is the real difference
which interface it runs in? It is still a very strong chess program.
