Go up one level in this thread
Hi Steve, would you make a visible hardware change to make a computer usable ? I have two samples with my computers : 1. when I got my CC 10, I was unable to connect to the Fidelity power supplys I had : I cut its powerconnector and soldiered one which could connect to my adapters. 2. my Constellation 3.6 had another problem : the second column of buttons did not work. A friend of mine (top class electronic guru) opened it but was unable to detect the source of the problem. He proposed me to add a replacement button for the "GO" function, so I am now able to change the computer's level and color. Of course, these are cheap computers which means that I could have replaced without difficulty (I've done it recently with my Mephisto Milano which is a computer I really like a lot) and that I did not take a big risk doing changes to these computers. For expensive computers, I would hesitate do to such visible changes... but I think I would do it if it was the only way to have them able to play games. What would you do ? Best, Alain
