As a correspondence player engine games are important for me. What is more important for CC players is good deep analysis, training >and commenting facilities that is why they choose mostly CB Shredder or Fritz. I see no difference between Shredder UCI and CB Shredder and every engine that can be used under CB interface. >Since CC players are likely the most customers for chess products apart from OTB >titled players, it's this chess group that makes ultimate profits for chess >software developers. I doubt it. Are there more than 1000 correspondence players who buy new chessbase programs? My guess is that part of them use old programs and part of them crack chessbase software. There are less than 3000 players with ICCF rating of more than 2400 and I know that part of the players with ICCF rating of more than 2400 use old software and I guess that today big part is using only free software or quitted correspondence games. From my own CC experience I can say that most of my >opponents have been using Fritz or Deep Fritz as a chess engine which is the >most CC-friendly product. I do not agree that Fritz is the most CC-friendly product and I see no difference between using Fritz and using another engine under Fritz. I think that using Fritz may be productive not because it is better than other programs but because it is used by other players so it can be productive to predict their moves. Uri
