Speaking realistically: Fritz 9 is the first complete recoding of the Fritz
engine since Fritz 6. However intensive the beta testing has been, evaluation
weaknesses (I don't like to call them "bugs") will be found in specific
positions. Fritz is still Chessbase's flagship chess playing program, so these
weaknesses will be fixed as soon as possible. I'm hoping that Fritz 9 will be
stronger than Fritz 8, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's slightly weaker. (The
old-timers in this forum will remember that Fritz 4 was weaker than Fritz 3).

If Fritz 9 isn't a monster, Fritz 9.1 will be. Buy the program now and wait for
the updates. Apart from which, the promised GUI changes should justify the
purchase price.
