Dan:
Sales and analysis are not the only variables to consider. What about pleasure
or fun for the simple average player?
I am the kind of guy that when playing Fritz like to have the chat function ON
in order to listen the nasty comments of the engine (supposedly) That is part of
my pleasant experience. I do not care if with that the engne has 11.56% less of
processor power. If someday a program shows also a girl nuding herself as you
play, the better. Evenm if that takes another 12,40 % of processor power. If
some of them keep my agenda, even better. If some is pesonalized in the shape
of, say, a butler, coming with the board and offering me a game, great.
And so and so.
THat would be for me a great reason to purchase.
Strenght I consider an standard, a comodity. I suppose I will have it anyway. No
need to worry about that. Even with 1% processor power chances are I will be
beaten.
You are a man of science and so you are prone to see things in some way. You
want the engine to give the best analysis. I am a man of letter so I search for
fun, extravagance, wit and humor. Analysis is just a tiny part of my life. Only
when I work. When geting fun I would not ever analyses one of my games. Even
less the game of someone else.
A chess program that between move and move tell me jokes would be great.
Degrees more or less, many people, I believe, want and is longing precisely for
this approach.
No, chessmaster is not enough in that...Too serious...
My best
Fernando
