I have had the same trouble finding the .xdefaults file, which is mentioned the
in XBoard man page. It is not there. How does it look like? Is it like
winboard.ini? Perhaps someone can post here his .xdefaults file.

Other than that XBoard was working normally both in Slackware (compiled from
source) and in Gentoo (as a package).
